5 Dental Social Media Marketing Personal Blog Post Examples

By February 13, 2013June 4th, 20223 Comments

AS WE WORK EACH DAY with hundreds of dental practice clients, one of the things we often hear is, “I don’t know what to post to my blog!”

We can help! Don’t worry! This really isn’t as hard as you may think. In fact, it’s pretty easy to write fun, engaging, quick blog posts that people actually read when you start getting a feel for creating the right topics! Remember, blog posts are NOT about selling dentistry! No need to write posts about root canals over and over again. Blog posts are about earning trust and strengthening relationships with your patient base—which in turn does a number of other awesome things:

  • Increases top-of-mind awareness.
  • Overcomes fears or misperceptions about dentistry.
  • Lets patients know you’re listening and that you care.
  • Leads to increased case acceptance through education and examples.
  • Makes it easy for patients to share your practice with their own trusted networks.
  • Educates patients about the services you provide.
  • Strengthens patient bonds with your team members.
  • …and a bunch of other things we’ll save for another post.

Example 1: Feature Team Members

Example 2: Talk About Community Events

This is a great idea whether or not your practice is personally involved. If you are, even better. If not, it’s still something that’s important to members of your community (both patients and prospective patients).

Example 3: Your Continuing Education

Chances are you’re not talking about this nearly enough! In fact, you don’t even have to wait until you attend a specific training event. Even if you simply read an article in one of your professional dental journals, take a minute and comment about it in a short blog post! Doing so tells your patients that you stay on the leading edge—that you’re passionate about what you do and about providing them with the very best services, techniques, materials and treatments.

Example 4: Your Travels (both dental and non-dental related)

Be a little careful about turning your blog into a family slide show… But once in a while it’s perfectly fine to include something like the post below. In fact, in this case, it was great because it was dental related, it revealed a very personable side of the dentist, and it included a direct question to patients:

Example 5: Share Life’s Meaningful Moments

Dentistry is unlike SO many businesses. It’s heavily relationship based. People like doing business with people they know and love. When you openly share things with your patients, you’re saying that you value them as friends and as part of your “practice family”. Again, be thoughtful and judicious about these kinds of posts. But please don’t ignore them or discount their enormous value.
