Learning From Practices That Really “Get It” Can Help You Become A Better Marketer
We all have role models in life—people we aspire to become more like. Over the last six years, we’ve worked with thousands of dental, orthodontic, and eye care practices around the world. Each month we’ve chosen one practice to be our Practice Of The Month.
I have a suggestion for you today that I know will help you in your practice’s social media marketing efforts. Take an opportunity to learn from greatness. Take an opportunity to be inspired by practices and teams that really “get it” when it comes to social media marketing—not only in terms of day-to-day activity, but in effectively turning activity into new patients, greater case acceptance, less attrition among existing patients, and increased practice growth.
Of course, I’m not suggesting that you steal their content. That isn’t ethical and you wouldn’t feel good about it. You already know that. What I’m suggesting is that you can be inspired by others… You can learn from them… You can take their mindset and apply it to your own practice marketing and become great yourself.

It’s Not About Activity. It’s About New Patients And Practice Growth.
When I was ten years old, growing up in the tiny desert town of Barstow, California, north of Los Angeles, I dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player for the L.A. Dodgers. The problem was that I wasn’t very good at baseball. Actually, I was pretty stinky and gave up that dream by age eleven.
However, I learned one very important lesson from my dad during the one season I played little league… Keep your eye on the ball. That lesson has stuck with me throughout my life.
When it comes to effective social media marketing in your dental, orthodontic or eye care practice, keep your eye on the ball. The goal is always practice growth. Of course, practice growth means different things to different practices. Often, it means getting new patients… But not always. So, while you’re reading through the strategies and tactics of our Practices Of The Month I encourage you to view them in the context of growth. Ask yourself, “How does this example point my team and me toward our own practice growth goals?”
