Next door, at Starbucks, you’ll pay five times that much. But you never hear anyone walk into Starbucks and ask for a cheaper cup of coffee. That’s because both Starbucks and their customers consider coffee a “ritual comfort” with higher perceived value—not a commodity.
Some may argue that it tastes better too… But that’s really beside the point.
Overwhelmingly it’s about perceived value, comfort, and brand.
