Yes, we’re pumped around here. The reason? By next week we will have converted all of our clients’ Facebook pages over to the new timeline format. Facebook just became an even MORE powerful dental marketing tool for your dental practice.
Why It Works Better
Prior to the new timeline layout, there was a VERY good reason to have a separate welcome/landing page—that is, the default alternative was stinky. Dumping first-time visitors and returning fans on the wall was a scattered, unfocused strategy. When we first started building welcome/landing pages for our clients they were a strong, focused improvement over being dumped onto the wall.
Now, the timeline changes that—dramatically. Every time someone (patients or prospective patients) visits you on Facebook the value propositions and benefits are clear and immediate. You no longer need to pitch what’s “going” to happen, or what they’re “going” to see. It’s right there, front and center! Here’s who we are… Here’s what we do… Here’s how to engage with us… Here’s how to enter… Here’s how to recommend us… Here are your friends who already like us… Here’s some recent interaction with our patients… Etc., etc… It’s so much more immediate. You’re “immersed” in the practice—and your immersed NOW.
The Most Important Functionality is Front and Center
Your new timeline makes all of the most important functionality easy to see, including:
- Foundational Brand (cover image)
- Contact Information, About, Map & Links
- Prominent Calls to Action (app links)
- Personal Relationships (connections to your brand/culture)
- “Highlighted” Post Position (a great place to “pin” a promo/offer)
- Featured Recent Activity (dynamic, not buried)
- Prominent Recommendation Feature (easy to invite patient recommendations)
When timelines were first announced a few weeks ago we wrote a post that we hope you’ve all read entitled, “The First 7 Things To Love About Your Upcoming Facebook Page!”. Now that we have had a few weeks to work on our dental social media clients’ new timelines, we love those first seven things even more.
Remember that you can change your cover photo yourself anytime you’d like. For our clients, we have set up their initial image with a more “brand-centric” approach. However, there are lots of things you could do if you’d like. For example, if you’ve participated in a community event recently you may want to post a photo you took during that event. We’ve noticed some of our client practices having a little fun with, and lending a little variety to, this billboard-sized space.
Over the last few weeks we’ve noticed that Facebook continues to dabble with the new business timeline. Two POWERFUL things that have been added are “Recent Posts By Others” and “Recommendations”. Now, when your patients and prospective patients interact with your page, that interaction is featured at the top of the right-hand column.
