WHEN WE ANNOUNCED April’s Social Practice of the Month (Martin & Sheng Dental) Megan said, “Dr. Martin and Dr. Sheng are thrilled with the results of all of our social media efforts and they are excited to have been chosen as the Practice of the Month!” By the way, Megan Martin is their practice’s Hygiene and Marketing Coordinator. They’re a remarkable practice with remarkable people. We’ve loved working with them and watching their progress.

Martin & Sheng Dental does a lot of things right. But one that we often notice is how good they are about responding to comments which also includes informing people about the new dental technology. And over time, that creates huge trust, loyalty, and patient retention!

We asked Megan Martin, Hygiene and Marketing Coordinator…

We asked Megan Martin, Hygiene and Marketing Coordinator, what their biggest surprise has been using social media marketing in their practice. She responded, “The biggest surprise so far has been the amount of people who have Liked us on Facebook! We just reached 300 likes! Also, we were shocked at the age range in the patients who are on Facebook. We have one patient a Facebook ‘fan’ who is 90 years old!”

Lesson Learned: Depending on the report you read, somewhere between 60% and 80% of the patients who walk through your door each day are actively using Facebook. Are you capitalizing on this opportunity to create stronger relationships? Hope so!

Next, we asked what social media marketing tactics they’ve had the most success with. Megan said, “So far we have seen the most success with Facebook, but the other tools are starting to pick up as well. We have received several new patients from our Facebook marketing which we are very happy with. We also do weekly trivia contests on Facebook so the patients love being interactive with us.”

Lesson Learned: Effective social media marketing isn’t about tools—it’s about people. One of the great things about being a My Social Practice client is that you’re learning how to become a “social business”, independent of the tools of the day like Facebook.

When we asked Megan’s opinion about the biggest benefits of social media for THEIR PATIENTS, she said, “I think the patients feel closer to us when they can interact with us on our social media sites. They have told us it has been fun getting to know our practice and our staff through our sites. They have also told us it has made them less afraid of coming to the dentist.”

Lesson Learned: Social media marketing WORKS on many, many levels.

When asked Megan’s thoughts about the biggest benefits of social media for THEIR PRACTICE, she said, “We have more patient retention and have even had new patients come in because of the marketing! We feel more connected with our patients which is great because we are all about creating a relationship and a bond with our patients. We know their likes and dislikes, we know about their families and activities. Now when those patients come into the office we feel a closer connection with them!”

Lesson Learned: Greater patient retention is a huge part of the ROI of your social media marketing efforts.

We asked Megan what part(s) of our service/support helps her most. She said, “We really love how My Social Practice provides a consistent design layout for our main pages which makes everything look great and professional. When asked how much time their practice spends each week working on their social media tools, Megan replied, “Three to five hours a week.”
