Dr. Moore: “We were all surprised at how easy it is to keep up with our Facebook page, especially with some outside help. We thought it would take much more time than it actually does. The part we really weren’t expecting is the connection we feel with our patients. They love Facebook, and a lot of patients just love interacting and commenting on the things we post. We just weren’t expecting that much participation.”
Question: “What things have been the most successful?”
Dr. Moore: “The most successful things have been the Facebook promotions where patients can ‘win’ something. It doesn’t even really have to be anything too big or expensive! We’ve given away an iPad, but we’ve also done a few gift cards and a t-rex t-shirt. The t-rex t-shirt got the most involvement. It’s funny what draws a group to interact and respond!”
“Probably trying to anticipate what our patients will positively respond to the most. We’ve discovered they like learning more about our staff and enjoy things like how we celebrate holidays or latest happenings at the office.”
“It gives us a chance to display who we are. It builds positive relationships with the patients. Its a foundation for future conversations and interactions. “Then patients feel connected. The connection makes us safe. When they feel safe and connected they trust, and trust is huge in dentistry.”
“Talk it up. Ask ask ask! The best time to ask: when a patient has their phone out! Are you on any social media? We are! We also have gum and mints in each room with a sign encouraging patients to like, check-in, and/ or recommend our practice. They can take the gum or mints for doing so!”
