What has been the biggest surprise of social media marketing for you?
“Given that I had personally tried to facilitate our Facebook page once before and was incredibly unsuccessful at it, I was skeptical to try something like this. I couldn’t be more surprised at how easy it has become for me to make a daily post that I feel good about, using My Social Practice’s ideas. I don’t want our patients to feel like we are constantly trying to ‘educate’ them. I want them to look forward to seeing what we are going to do next!”
Which tools and content have best helped you accomplish your goals?
“Call-to-action posts are the ones that are most successful for us, even if the content does not include a giveaway. People like commenting on our posts when there is an end goal that they can help accomplish through their interaction.”
What has been the greatest benefit of social media marketing for your practice so far?
“Patients are learning more about our staff and our community involvement. It gives them something to share with family and friends. For example, I’m waiting to post before-and-after pictures of one of our hygienists who’s about to have twins! Our posts about team members also help us to give them recognition and encouragement, and that gives us all a sense of pride in our practice!”
What does your team do in your practice to promote your social media efforts?
“We have taken down our ‘no cellphones allowed’ sign and replaced it with ‘Please like our Facebook page’! Recently, we’ve been running our first Facebook giveaway for patients to win a free Sonicare, and giving out invites in the practice encouraging them to enter.”
What advice do you have for practices just beginning with social media marketing?
“Go with My Social Practice and ask for Natalie to train you. She has a way of explaining this to you that makes you wonder why you had such a hard time mastering it. Make a list of things that you would like your community to know about you other than dentistry and then showcase one of those items each week.”
