Aspirational Dental Logo Design for Discerning Dentists

When building a dental brand, there are many truly critical components to consider. Messaging, copywriting, color schemes, graphic design, the undeniable and inescapable urge to write blog posts from the perspective of an original character named Dr. Velociraptor the Prehistoric Periodontistyou know, the same considerations with which we must all contend.

One such important piece of the branding puzzle is dental logo design. It’s difficult to stand out in this saturated arena; after all, there are only so many ways you can reimagine a tooth in a clever dentist logo. And because your logo is a lynchpin for all of your branding, you want a design that shines. A symbol of your practice’s individuality. An aesthetic that says,Hello world, here I am, a simple velociraptor with a passion for the eradication of gum disease.”

I’m here to show you that creating a beautiful, distinct logo is not merely a distant dream, but an attainable goal. To that end, I’ve compiled a list of the most recognizable brands, true giants of our capitalistic hellscape—uhI mean paradise—and resigned their logos as though they belonged to dentists. (If any of these companies ever enter the dental market, they have my permission to use these logos. You’re welcome, Google.)

That’s inspirational, right? Probably. 5 out of 5 dinosaur dentists agree, or at least they would had the meteor not decimated the prehistoric dental industry before it even had the chance to truly blossom.

New call-to-action

Google

Google’s brand is all about delivering information and empowering users to find whatever they’re searching for. I envision Dr. Google as a family dentist that offers something for everyone. He’ll fill your toddler’s cavity while they zone out to Cocomelon at 10:00, then pivot to your dental implant treatment at 11:00.

The inspiration for this logo is clear. It’s obvious. I can’t believe no one has thought of it before now:

An everything bagel. It’s genius, right? Will patients get confused and wonder if the dental office is a bagel shop? Well, yes, maybe. But that’s a bonus because I’m envisioning a sort of two-for-one operation where you get a dental cleaning and then pick up a snack on the way out.

That’s just smart business, baby.

Nike

Few logos are as bold and recognizable as the little Nike swooshy thing. This brand makes you want to go for it, to do the impossible, to reach for the stars. It makes you want to just do it, though I only have a vague idea of whatitis and I feel like some specificity would be appreciated for those of us who aren’t good at sports, but I digress.

A patient of Dr. Nike would find the strength to do whateveritis. They might even be motivated to perform Herculean tasks, such as scheduling a regular six-month check-up or flossing every night.

Wow. True art. I don’t know about you, but this athletic, powerful dental logo design makes me feel as though I can truly achieve anything. I’m definitely going to finditand when I do, watch out, world. The background is a vibrant and tasteful, basketball-orange, becauseI don’t know, sports or something.

Apple

Another tech giant, Apple has cornered the market on simplicity, innovation, and sleek design. As a dentist, Apple would use only the latest technological advances and tools, and all of them would be a fairly disconcerting, shiny white. Like a sci-fi spaceship powered by the latest in AI dental innovation. Except everyone would be wearing turtlenecks.

My vision is to maintain the clean elegance that defines the brand, but to give it a more welcoming, accessible facelift. Something friendly, but undeniably chic. And I have the perfect logo to represent this aesthetic.

What is that vague, minimalistic shape? Is it an apple? Is it a tooth? I don’t know, but it sure is happy to see you. Have a free toothbrush. It pairs with your Apple watch.

McDonald’s

Quick. Affordable. May or may not be associated with clowns depending upon your year of birth. These are the concepts I think of when I see the iconic golden arches of this expansive fast-food brand. But how to translate them into a dental logo worthy of the noble mantle dental professionals have been called to take upon themselves?

I envision a rapidly expanding dental chain known for its consistency and pretty good barbecue sauce. Or, fluoride flavors, I guess. In my opinion, moving away from the clown aesthetic was a critical branding mistake and one I intend to rectify immediately.

That’s better, much better. Stop by today for on-the-go teeth whitening. Get it in a combo with your yearly x-rays while you’re at it. Have a free toy with your check-up.

Barbie

With signature pink script and a timeless emphasis on fun, fashion, and empowerment, Barbie’s logo and brand identity have inspired the young and the young at heart for generations. Barbie has had many careers, including a dentist, and while I’m sure she was very successful at it I think we can bring her dental branding to the next level with the right logo. Barbie is all about showing us that we can be whoever we want to be, after all.

You see, Barbie is a master of all trades. She’s done it all, folks, and the current branding doesn’t really emphasize that, does it? Barbie is your dentist, but she’s also the anesthesiologist, hygienist, receptionist, accountant, oral surgeon, tech support, and manicurist. Yes, her office offers manicures.

Frequently Asked Questions

These logos are truly incredible, have any of these brands reached out yet?

No, and I can’t understand why. I’ve sent each of them no less than 15 emails with the attached logos, and they have yet to get back to me. If I had to guess it’s probably because they’re busy implementing a total redesign of their websites and branding based around my work, which is very flattering and totally unneccessary. My dental logo design complements their existing brand identities, those silly gooses.

I can't help but notice that you like dinosaurs.

This is not a question, but it is something I hear very frequently. To that I say,Of course I do.Honestly, you shouldn’t trust anyone who doesn’t like a good dinosaur documentary binge on a random Tuesday afternoon. Have you ever seen an incisivosaurus? Google it. Go on, I’ll wait.

YEAH. You’re telling me you don’t love that goofy-lookinlilguy? Okay, sure. Whatever you say.

Does anyone proofread your blog posts?

Yes, me. My job title is the Grand Overlord of Copywriting and SEO, and if you think that’s a joke, it is not. You see, my boss trusts me to write stunning copy of the highest caliber, and only very occasionally does he invite me to a video chat that begins with a heavy sigh and a, “You can’t keep doing this, we’re trying to run a business.”

Do I really need a dental logo?

Gee, I don’t know Linda, do you really need a website or a Google My Business page or a compelling selection of magazines in your waiting room? YES!

I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have yelled.

Your dental logo is a first impression from which every aspect of your branding and design flows like a cohesive, harmonious river over the waterfall of patient acquisition. If that metaphor didn’t land, then try this one. Dental branding is like a box of chocolates. Your logo is the milk chocolate toffee or the cherry cordial that makes people buy the box, even though they know a root canal is hiding somewhere in the packaging in the form of one of those dark chocolate mint truffles that taste like toothpaste and regret.
