Dr. Dunn’s Team And Smiles For Life Are Fighting Child Slavery In Ghana

social media marketing for dentistsSEVERAL YEARS AGO, DR. JERRY DUNN
read a story in the Reader’s Digest about a woman named Pam Cope. Pam was a hairdresser, wife, and mother of two in a small Missouri town. Her life was changed forever with the sudden death of her 15-year-old son, Jantsen, from an undiagnosed heart condition.

Through the pain of Pam’s loss she began seeing the world in a new light.

Pam heard about the horrors of child slavery in Ghana and vowed to take a stand for exploited children, creating the Touch A Life Foundation. The Touch A Life Foundation inspires others to advocate on behalf of trafficked and vulnerable children around the world, providing holistic long-term childcare in Ghana, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Since Touch A Life was founded Pam has touched the lives of many children—including adopting two children from Vietnam.

Dr. Dunn’s Connection With Pam Cope

So what does Pam Cope’s story have to do with Dr. Jerry Dunn of Las Colinas, Texas?

Imagine Dr. Dunn’s surprise when just a few weeks after reading about Pam a new patient walked into his office. It was Pam Cope. Pam mentioned that she had two adopted ten-year olds from Vietnam. After a cursory glance at the book in her hand (a first edition of Jantsen’s Gift, the book Pam wrote about her experiences) and recalling some of the details from the article, Dr. Dunn asked if she was the same woman he had read about. She happily responded that indeed she was. She and her family had recently moved to the area with her husband’s new job, and they needed a new dentist.

A Divine Introduction

Dr. Dunn had been deeply moved by the article he had read about Pam. When Pam walked into his practice (out of all the dental practices in the world) he knew that divine intervention had brought them together.

Pam felt the same way. She gave Dr. Dunn her book, and signed it, “Divine introductions of the very best.” Coincidence? Not to Dr. Dunn.

Smiles For Life Provides A Way For Dr. Dunn And His Team To Help

March through June, hundreds of Smiles For Life dental practices professionally whiten teeth to raise money for seriously ill, disabled, and underprivileged kids. They’re Crown Council members—an alliance of leading-edge dental teams committed to charitable work. When you have your smile whitened, 100% of the proceeds go to the Smiles For Life Foundation, which in turn supports the Touch A Life Foundation.

Dr. Dunn and his Advanced Dental Care of Las Colinas team couldn’t wait to throw their efforts behind Smiles For Life this year. They know that it isn’t about the posters they have hung in every room, the t-shirts they wear with pride, or even the publication they get in the local newspaper.

The entire team knows that what they are doing is something much bigger, and that with every smile whitened they’re able to help keep a child safe, in a world that wouldn’t do so without their help. Thank you for your inspiration Dr. Dunn and team!
