Congratulations to Davis & Goldberg Orthodontics!
We recently asked over 600 dental practices about the biggest roadblock to building their online presence. Can you guess the top answer? It was “it’s too hard to come up with ideas and create posts.”
Perhaps you’re not surprised, because it’s how you feel in your own practice’s social media efforts.
So this month, learn from the team at Davis & Goldberg Orthodontics, who went from “spending all day looking for something post” to easily creating their own unique, personalized and engaging social media content!
Why is consistently posting worthwhile content important? Because search engines and social media platforms are giving more and more priority to content that meets people’s needs, connects with them on a personal level, and is relevant to their interests and communities. And when people come across that type of content, they’re more likely to engage with it — meaning more interaction, strengthened patient relationships, and increased visibility for your practice.
We reached out to Jeff Goldberg, doctor at Davis & Goldberg Orthodontics, for some insight on which social media tools have been most effective in helping his team create content and attract new patients. Take something from what they’ve learned to apply in your own social media strategy!
Q&A With Jeff Goldberg, Orthodontist
(Responses edited for length and clarity.)
What has been the biggest surprise of social media marketing for you?
“The biggest surprise was just how many people can connect with you based on your online presence. My staff and I get stopped in the street all time, not from patients, just people in our targeted advertisements to say how much they enjoy some of the things we do. It’s a lot of fun.”
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your social media efforts?
“Coming up with new content that encourages interaction with us. The scheduled content [from My Social Practice] is great so you can book posts weeks ahead, especially during holidays and vacations when you don’t have the time to put something up. The animations and holiday based content is great and having orthodontic-specific items is key as they can all be personalized to your office giving the content a better feel and unique touch.”
What would you say have been the biggest benefits of social media marketing for your practice?
“Reaching people outside of our immediate patient base is the key. Encouraging shares and likes to patients’ friends expands our “like-minded” patient reach. If you have a lot of great moms or great families you’re currently working with, they probably have a lot of friends on Facebook/Instagram who are like them that you would love in your practice, so the more content they can share or talk about you and your practice, the better to encourage the patients you want to give you a call.”
What advice would you give to a practice starting to build their online presence?
“Your social media presence is key to practice growth. While people will search for you on Google and check reviews, the next step is your website and social media. Having a nice website is just the beginning as people need to see your office in a more personal light, how they will be treated once there, what kind of experience can they expect, what type of people work there and what other patients there are doing. Social media is a great window into your practice and allows people not currently with you to get an emotional connection to who you are and what you do.”
Thank you for your thoughts, Dr. Goldberg! It means a lot to us to hear that our tools and content are helping you to grow your practice and build patient relationships.
