What Is The Point Of Instagram Stories?

Back in 2016 Instagram launched a new feature in their application called ‘stories’.

Stories allows a user to post content that only stays online for 24 hours. The idea was to encourage content creators to post short ongoing content about what they were doing that day.

Stories have become a feature that followers appreciate, and they are watched more often than the regular post feed. Because of the uptick in visibility Instagram story posting has become an essential part of Instagram marketing.

Why should you even care about linking in your stories? If you are spending the time to create content for Instagram, wouldn’t you want potential patients to be able to get to your website with a single click? Of course you would.

You no longer have to be verified or have a large following to add a link to your Instagram story!

When Stories first launched, Instagram has had strict rules about who is allowed to include a link in a story post. Users could only include links in stories if they had 10,000 or more followers, which limited marketing efforts to larger Instagram influencers.

That’s why you’d only see popular influencers telling people to “swipe up for the link!” and everyone else was out of luck.

This is no longer the case! Non-influencers and small businesses like dental practices can now include link stickers in stories.

Here’s How To Link A Sticker To Your Instagram Post

How do you add a link to your Instagram story? It’s pretty simple.

All you have to do is:

  • create a story post
  • click on the sticker icon in the top navigation bar
  • select the link “icon”
  • add any URL you want to send your followers to
  • and tap “Done.”

Anyone who taps on that sticker in your story will be directed straight to the website link you’ve provided.
