Congratulations to White Bear Smiles, our July Practice of the Month!
OUR AMAZING CLIENT—WHITE BEAR SMILES in White Bear Lake, Minnesota—exudes an atmosphere of kindness and honesty. They know that their dental practice depends on relationships… And relationships are achieved and sustained through trust.
White Bear Smiles effectively uses social media to strengthen those relationships and take them to the next level. And one of the cool things about this practice is that they not only do this with their patients, but their efforts also strengthen team relationships.
Another amazing thing about this practice is the amount of engagement they get on Facebook—despite the fact that they have relatively fewer Likes than some other dentists! They are a shining example of the fact that you DON’T need thousands and thousands of fans to be highly successful in taking advantage of the scalability of social media. Their fans on Facebook aren’t just numbers on a dashboard.
Dental Social Media Brings Teams Together
A healthy practice begins and ends with your team. When your team is close there’s less turnover, more cooperation, AND a welcoming atmosphere your patients feel.
Kristen, White Bear Smile’s Clinic Administrator (and head of their social media), tells us, “Social media has brought our team even closer. We work together to think of fun things to post, including staff pics of us doing fun or silly things! It shows patients what a close-knit group we are, and that we like to have fun too!”
Take Every Opportunity To Strengthen Relationships With Patients
White Bear Smiles puts in extra thought and time to make the most out of social opportunities. They understand that relationship-building turns patients into advocates for your practice. When patients love your practice and appreciate the value of your services, they’ll want to promote your practice and help you thrive. It’s human nature.
Here are some examples from White Bear Smiles to inspire your team!
1. Celebrate Your Patients
White Bear Smiles does this with a no-cavities club. Look at the awesome conversations this can spark!
2. Use Your Blog To Share Stories
3. Use Tagging To Involve Patients On Facebook
A great way to enlist your patients is to tag them on Facebook, a method White Bear Smiles has seen a lot of success with.
Kristen told us, “I have found that when we can tag posts and photos with staff or patients’ names, we have exponentially more views/likes/comments/shares. My Social Practice assisted me with changing our security allowances on Facebook to allow people to tag themselves, and it has really made a big difference.”
4. Take Facebook Ideas From “Good” To “Better”
It’s one thing to post a generic picture on Facebook. It’s another to put in some extra effort and take your own staff photo, or make it into a quick contest for your patients. We know you don’t have extra time every day, but every now and then, spend a couple extra minutes making your Facebook posts even better.
We Asked Kristen A Few More Questions…
How have your patients responded to seeing your practice on social media?
“Social media has helped us improve our patient relationships. Our patients can keep connected to our office throughout the year—not just twice a year when they have an appointment. Patients coming into the office tell us that they liked one of the photos they saw on our Facebook page, our they’ll ask us about an activity they saw us doing. So it starts conversations in the office too.”
What do you do in the office to make social media work for you?
“We all make an effort to talk to our patients about our Facebook presence and inviting our patients to like our page.”
What products and services provided by My Social Practice do you find the most useful?
“We really appreciate the daily post ideas, blog templates and social signs. The social signs have been a fun thing to get our patients to know our doctor and staff better.”
Thanks, White Bear Smiles, and congratulations!
